Is Valium the answer? Print E-mail
Tuesday, 04 April 2017 12:52

It seems that an increasing number of vets are prescribing Valium for dogs who exhibit anxiety at being left home alone while their owners are at work all day.  Surely this is not the answer? Dogs are naturally sociable animals and so will suffer psychological problems if abandoned for hours at a time, especially if it is on a regular basis.  The answer must be to change the owner's behaviour - rather than dole out medication.  Owning a dog is not a right.  If you cannot look after a dog properly should you own one at all?
