A French invasion? Print E-mail
Friday, 17 February 2017 11:55

After 27 years as Britain's most popular dog, it seems that the Labrador is about to be knocked off the top spot by the French bulldog.  Ten years ago just 650 French bulldogs were registered with the Kennel Club but last year saw 21,470 registrations.  Their popularity has almost certainly been fuelled by so-called celebrity owners such as the Beckhams and Lady Gaga.  Unfortunately buying a dog because it is fashionable will almost certainly lead to an increase in unscrupulous breeders - leading to health and welfare problems for the breed.
