Crufts in the firing line - again Print E-mail
Wednesday, 16 March 2016 11:01

In 2008 the RSPCA and BBC announced that they were withdrawing from Crufts dog show due to concerns that looks were being prized over health and temperament.  The argument was that judging criteria encouraged inbreeding and the rearing of disabled, deformed and diseased dogs.  The Kennel Club, which runs Crufts, promised it would get its house in order.  But has anything changed?  This year the German Shepherd, judged to be the best of its breed, presented a shocking sight with its oddly sloping back and wobbly back legs resulting in an awkward uncoordinated movement.  The judge should be named, shamed and sacked - and the owners banned from breeding from this poor bitch.
