Some dogs - mentioning no breed names! - will eat anything and everything that they find.  Vets warn that acorns contain a chemical called Gallotannin which can cause tiredness, pain, vomiting and potentially fatal damage to the liver and kidneys, and intestinal blockages.  So if you have been for a lovely autumnal walk in the woods but when you get home, your dog appears lethargic and perhaps starts to drool, don't put off a visit to the vet.  A prompt injection to make him sick could save his life.
