A dog is often a vital, important member of the family so to many owners it seems only right that they should have a proper send off.  According to a Sunday Times report, up to 10,000 services a year are carried out by pet funeral parlours, costing anything from £100 to thousands of pounds.  Many say that holding a funeral helped them deal better with their grief than the somewhat clinical dispatch offered by most veterinary surgeries.  As someone who has only recently lost their beautiful 17 month old flatcoat I can understand this - but I chose to bury Beau without ceremony in the garden he had loved.  We are all different and each to their own...
